We’d been expecting the first few days to be some of the toughest but today we were blessed with a 20mph tail-wind almost all the way and the miles flew past. Even some of the hills that had looked pretty monstrous from the car seemed to roll by at 15mph, and the downhills took us to between 30 and 45mph.

Having expected to be on the road for between 8 and 9 hours per day, we arrived at the camp site at 14:45, just 4h15 after leaving Land’s End. We celebrated our progress with a barbecue.

The Numpty Of The Day award goes to Mr Dan Ludgate who overshot the exit from the A30 by a mere 3 miles before realising that I was no longer behind him. Having said that, I also have a rather fetching red stripe around my right leg where I failed to apply suncreme to the centimetre below my cycling shorts.
